Comfortable? Or Growth? You Choose

Today I pondered something I read in the Old Testament. Amos 6:1 in part says, “Woe to them who are ease in Zion. . . “
In Zechariah 1:15 I read these words, “And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease. . .”
What do those words mean to you? To me they seem to shout, “Don’t get too comfortable for too long!” We fail to grow when we are at ease or too comfortable. I convinced that is one reason His followers are tried, tested and proved to see if we are worthy or not. Without growth, we stagnate. We become complacent. We may even regress if we don’t keep inching forward.
Absolutely there are many times when it seems we take one baby step forward and then slide all the way back to starting line. It reminds me of playing Simon Says as a youth. The most important thing is not that we make giant steps or leaps but that we continue to stay on the path, yes, the Straight and Narrow one, and are moving forward rather than back.
Many times we may actually feel as if we are moving in reverse but face the Light. Don’t look back except for the lessons learned. Focus on the Light and keep steering right down the middle of that narrow path.
We all become discouraged at times . . . just don’t stay there. We succeed not by the number of times we slip and even fall, but rather by the number of times we get back up, brush ourselves off and take another baby step.
The bottom line is, Do you want to be comfortable . . . or do you want to grow; because you cannot do both. Let's journey together to the finish line as we Face the Light and seek the Sonshine even on the cloudy days.
